You ever find yourself randomly awake during fast food breakfast hours, because you started drinking too early the night before, or because you've got someone coming by the house to work, because you can't so much as hammer a nail into place? It happened to me the other day, and I figured it was as good a time as any to try the new-ish breakfast menu at White Castle. This location in particular is notorious for making you wait in your car for like six years to get your order, even if there's no one else in line, and even though I know exactly how long it takes for a White Castle to go from a brick-hard, frozen, pink paperweight to steamy, colon-cleansing goodness, but I'm thinking the line for breakfast might be a problem regardless of which White Castle you go to - even my alma mater (I actually earned a degree while working there, from ServSafe), the legendary Maryland Heights location, on Dorsett, perhaps the last fast food restaurant in America staffed almost entirely by white people, only a few of them on meth. White Castle was purposely designed to produce sandwiches by the shedload... or, ahem, the Crave Case. You can't make egg sandwiches that fast. We just don't have the technology. I was surprised to find that these White Castle breakfast sandwiches consist of your choice of meat(), sausage, bacon or castle (the meat from a White Castle), topped by what must be an actual egg, and cheese. I don't even think they give you the option to get one without cheese, which they charge like $.10 a slice for; and by "slice" I mean little bitty-ass square. Though you could get one with just cheese and egg, if you didn't bring enough money. White Castle must actually have one of their tweakers - or, in the case of this location, teenage mothers - back there cracking eggs and flipping them with a spatula. You can tell, because the eggs are so big that they hang way over the sides of the sandwich. I guess there was no way logistics-wise to use less than one whole egg per sandwich. I know eggs at the grocery store come in different sizes, but I guess even the smallest egg you can buy is big for a White Castle. I'm a large brother, and I'm not always awake before noon, so I figured I'd try each item on the breakfast menu - except for the one with no meat, natch. What follows is a handy breakdown of what you could get for breakfast at White Castle, aside from the rest of the shit on the menu, which they'd probably still sell you. Sausage, Egg & Cheese - Your basic sausage, egg and cheese sandwich, except it's on the same bun they use to make a White Castle. I find that the bread at White Castle, which doesn't have much texture to it anyway, is better suited for breakfast sandwiches than, say, the bread they use for the Breakfast Jack at Jack in the Box. The sausage, like the egg, hangs way out over the side of the bun. Which doesn't make sense to me. I know enough about how sausage is made to know that you can make it in any size and shape that you want. No Boutros. Bacon, Egg & Cheese - The bacon they use is the same bacon they use on a bacon cheeseburger. I guess they save money that way. That's smart. I should know, I went to business school (right before I started working at White Castle #FAIL). It's the most razor thin bacon you could possibly buy. It must be cut using a samurai sword, by an Asian sushi chef. But because a White Castle is so small they fold it over a few times, so it does have a certain chew to it. But it's comes precooked, and they just warm it up over the back of the grill, so there's no char to it and it tastes like preservatives. Castle, Egg & Cheese - This is the one that intrigued me the most. I know a few of the classier burger joints, including the Cheesecake Factory, Steak n Shake and Dave & Tony's are now serving burgers with a fried egg on them. I had one once, and it was fucking delicious, so I was thinking this might be a real treat. Turns out it was just kind of weird. The burgers at White Castle famously have that mush-like texture, even though there's that sign on the door that says they're made out of 100% real beef, not that shit they use at Taco Bell. (This is probably why they have that sign on the door.) Of course I'm cool with the burger itself. I've eaten literally a million of them in my lifetime (and look how well I turned out). But the egg on top just serves to highlight the fact that you could probably eat a White Castle with no teeth, if you had to. The mushy texture of the meat, plus the mushy texture of the egg, is a little bit too much mush. Whereas, on a real hamburger, the actual texture of the meat might offset the texture of the egg. Hash Rounds - They also have hash rounds. They might be the exact same hash rounds they sell at Burger King. The shit they use to make the chocolate shake is the same shit they used to make the Frosty at Wendys. The box even says Wendys on it. If you're ever there when they're changing the shake mix, take a look.

I like White Castle. Like, a lot. But the food from this location tasted a little off (sliders and loaded fries) and the ranch powder on my chicken rings accumulated on only 1 of the 6 rings and there were giant nuggets of powder at the bottom of the bag... in particular, not on any of the chicken rings. The drive-thru was particularly slow the night I went too. And we didn't get the ketchup that we asked for. Plenty of napkins in our takeout bag and friendly employees though.

I miss my White Castle! And the frozen burgers aren't the same! I definitely have to stop at White Castle at least once (but usually twice) whenever I'm in St. Louis. The tiny burgers (some people call them "sliders," but not me) are grilled on a bed of onions, with the buns warming on top. I'm not a huge onion fan, and usually I order my whiteys without onions (or pickles, the only other thing that come on them, at least in St. Louis), but a few manage to sneak onto my burgers, and truth be told, I don't mind them so much. The fries are crinkle-cut and very tasty. And the onion rings are nothing crazy, stylistic-wise, but they are delicious, nonetheless. White Castle had chicken rings way back when, and they are equally yummy, especially with their own honey mustard sauce. They also offer other chicken sandwiches, but I come here solely for the whiteys (with cheese, please). I grew up eating White Castle, so whenever there's family in town, a stop at the White Castle is definitely called for. My cousin got her family so addicted to whiteys that whenever she comes to town, she takes at least a crave case (30 burgers) back to San Diego with her on the plane! Another great thing about White Castle - it's dirt-cheap! You can get a whole meal (3-4 burgers, fries) for under $5! There are tons of White Castle haters out there, but they just don't get it!

I don't have any complaints about the food, just realize that this franchise is slow, particularly in the morning time. If you are in a rush, don't take the chance.

No one inside responded to the drive thru. Waited 5 then went inside. Really slow. People wandering aimlessly in the back. Waited another 10 after ordering. Surprising since I was the only inside. Go to a different one.

We just had a lovely Valentine's Day reservation. The food was delicious as always. It was really cute how they decorated everything and had servers. Romeo was a polite and attentive young man. I would absolutely come back, special occasion or no.

Thank God for white castles they prepare your food from start to finish Pour your drinks right in front of you. It was White castle that brought hamburgers back it look as if it's going to have to be white castles to bring people back to eating out .

I waited 10 minutes (with no one in front of me) until the employee was ready to take my order in the drive-thru. I then waited 20 more minutes to receive my order. After finally receiving half my order a new employee asked me if 3 different orders were mine. NO! I was only waiting on a milk, which took 5 more minutes to receive. I get it, things happen, sometimes there are new employees or whatever is happening in there. I was annoyed but I am writing this review because it has now been almost 12 hrs since I was at this location and I am STILL sick! I don't know what the hell is going on here but for your own safety, there is a mcdonalds and a jack n the box just up the road. I highly advise you to go there!

You make a cult-followed stoner flick worshiping this restaurant, which I've been watching stone-cold-sober for seven years, and you expect me to NOT be disappointed by something my dog wouldn't even eat, and food that I can only assume is leftovers from a local prison cafeteria? And they sell these burgers frozen in supermarkets??? (snorts) Is that some kind of joke??? Yeah, every time I'm eating a really good burger I think to myself, you know what this could use? Some cold gravy. Mmmmmmmm there we go. Hollywood, you've let me down. Kal Penn, you're on notice, and the next time a movie tries to tell me anything is delicious, I'm going to be like, no, dude, remember WHITE CASTLE?!
